Congratulations to Congolese artist Pamela Tulizo @pamelatulizo for winning the third edition of the annual @Dior @diormakeup Photography & Visual Arts Award for Young Talents.
This year, artists were given a carte blanche to submit photos or videos linked to the theme “Face-to-Face”; to create meaningful, powerful works of art that reflect their spirit of freedom and their hope for the future.
The are 14 young artists selected by the jury that will have their work displayed on the Maison Dior and LUMA Arles Instagram accounts, as part of a major online exhibition. Pamela Tulizo was chosen as the overall winner for the 2020 contest.
Pamela Tulizo is a documentary photographer and artist based in Goma. Her work focuses on social issues and the different facets of female identity in society.
She is motivated and inspired by her own personal story where her family and community did not accept her as a photographer as they believed it was a man’s job.
Pamela’s work has been displayed at the Lubumbashi Biennal, and in different projects such as ELLE equals IL Kinshasa. As well as Congo Harlem in New York, and Kinshasa.
Is it just us or is Bukavu becoming the epicenter of talented Congolese photographers?
